AIRBORNE PARTICLE MOBILE MONITORING SYSTEM - APMMS

for the continuous monitoring of alpha, beta and gamma

Simple and mobile unit which allows the safety radiation officers to conduct studies and produce a simple mapping of the concentrations and the areas of risk.

There are some vulnerable areas such as Nuclear Medicine, Radioisotope Production, Patient Ventilation for lung cancer study, Uranium Industry, Research Lab that should be constantly monitored because of the accumulative volume of air particles in enclosed areas with poor ventilation.

CONSTRUCTION

The radiation is an invisible enemy that can be in the air, leave it without control could represent a health risk due to it Globalsonics has developed the Austral-Rad Airborne Particle Mobile Monitoring System to help provide a Workplace Health and Safety (WHB/OH&S).

Some countries have taken all precautions to minimising the number of air particles, that can be treated in an 8 hours shift. In these countries, the room design and ventilation minimise the exposure of personnel operating in these facilities such as doctors, nurses and technologists. The Austral-Rad Airborne Particle Mobile Monitoring System APMMS is a simple and mobile unit which allows the safety radiation officers to conduct studies and produce a simple mapping of the concentrations and the areas of risk.

The integrated ALPS software offers simple filters that can be programmed gives a precise and concise understanding. It has been developed considering a low maintenance system, replacement parts are not required except for paper filters trapping alpha particles and beta particles that may produce health risks through a user-friendly interface.

FEATURES

High precision analysis of alpha spectra from gridded ionisation chambers and semiconductor detectors (surface barrier, PIPS, ULTRA and other ion implanted detectors) Ability to accurately deconvolute very closely lying peaks such as the peaks from the Pu239 and Pu240 multiplet Uses the peak shape functions derived from the physics of interactions between emission and registration for the deconvolution of alpha spectra from silicon semiconductor and gridded ionisation chamber detectors.

Provides reliable quantitative analysis of:

  • Complex alpha spectra with overlapping peaks
  • Alpha spectra measured with poor statistics
  • Alpha spectra from thick samples
  • Alpha spectra measured with an addition of tracer isotope (spike)
