VacFix® fixation cushion was the first solution to replace plaster of paris cast due to the flexible and comfortable nature of the material. Since then, several changes have been made to improve the fixation of patients during radiation therapy, but the basic idea persist.
The cushions are designed with a double seal, plug and squeeze valve to ensure a full airtight cushion with no need of re-evacuating during the treatment period. The cushions can be evacuated using the suction outlets present in the hospitals or alternatively with the special vacuum pumps offered on the ParScientific range. These pumps allow more focus on the shaping of the cushion, these pumps feature foot pedals, remote controlling and auto‐shutdown when desired vacuum level is reached.
